Heartland Child Nutrition gives you and parents the assurance that all children in your care receive a healthy start. A statewide sponsor of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)in North Dakota, Heartland provides, at no charge, a variety of services and benefits to child care providers to assist them in promoting good nutrition and health to the children in their care. Providers are subsidized for meals and snacks served to each enrolled child. A provider can claim a maximum of two meals and one snack or two snacks and one meal per child per day at the following rates: Payment is based on a two-tier reimbursement system. Tier I reimbursement is determined by either income, school, or census eligibility. Tier II reimbursement applies to those who are not eligible based on the above. (We have more information on income eligibility here.) Providers are instructed on the allowable foods and menu guidelines required by the USDA - guidelines that are easy and sensible! It's balance and quality that count in assuring lifetime benefits for children.
