Benefits of Enrollment

Heartland Child Nutrition is committed to providing practical and meaningful nutrition education activities.

Nutrition Workshops
Nutrition training is offered every year to Heartland providers. These workshops, held at locations throughout the state, are provider-specific and offer learning on various topics such as healthy menus, picky eaters, snack ideas, or original children's recipes. This training may also be used for licensing credit according to county social services.

Heartland Helps Series
A series of information booklets are available that highlight special circumstances a child care provider may encounter; for example, picky eaters and lactose intolerance. Booklets currently offered include, "When Kids Won't Eat Right," and "When a Child Can't Drink Milk." The series contains specific child care cooking topics too, like "Bread Machine Recipes," "Crock Pot Cooking," and "Dips."

Nutrition Specialist
Providers may call on our nutrition specialist for any nutrition assistance. She will help with menu planning, food concerns, recipes and more.

Lending Library
On a two-week lending program, providers can check out anything from cookbooks to nutrition videos.
